Jessica Guenther swam for the Saskatoon Aqualenes until 2009. Placing first at 2009 Nationals in Figures, 2nd in solo she put herself onto the Junior National Team. After a very successful UANA Junior Pan Am (Jessica placed first in every event she was in), Jessica furthered her synchro career by going to swim with Stanford University in Palo Alto, California.



Grass Roots 

VISION

The vision of the Grass Roots Committee is to create, develop, implement, and maintain a Grass Roots program that is athlete-centered and that fosters the recruitment and development of Tier 1-5 athletes, Tier 6-7 Provincial Athletes and pre-competitive or non-competitive participants throughout the entire province of Saskatchewan.

RATIONALE BEHIND PROGRAM

  • This program is equitable for all athletes and all participants of all age levels within what is currently called the Provincial Age Class Category;
  • This program seeks to provide the opportunity for all participants to pursue their Goals as individuals regardless of their location;
  • This program works towards providing consistency. All participants/athletes are striving for common skill related standards;
  • This program works toward providing opportunities for competitive clubs/coaches/athletes with a smooth transition into "Saskatchewan Summer Games Year," ensuring that the Trials & Selection needs and processes are taken into account;
  • This program seeks to provide a smooth transition for those Tier 1-5 athletes with the skill level and desired goals to move into the SaskFirst Program and participation in the Trials & Selection needs and processes for Canada Games Teams & Western Canada Summer Games programs;
  • This program provides the opportunity to develop skill levels and establish standards for coaches/instructors that are involved at the Tier 1-5 levels and Tier 6-7 Provincial Levels.

    GOAL

    The goal of the Grass Roots Committee is to provide strong unified and fluid programs for all athletes/participants in the province as members of Synchro Saskatchewan.

    OBJECTIVES

    Coach Development

       1. Provide appropriate training and support for instructors where there is currently no Synchro Program available;

       2. Provide appropriate upgrading, training and support for coaches of Pre-Competitive, Recreational, Tiers 1- 5 and Tiers 6 & 7 Provincial athletes/participants;

       3. Work with coaches in centers where Tier 5 athletes have the skills and goals to make the transition into the SaskFirst Program.

    Athlete/Participant Recruitment, Retention & Development

       1. Increased opportunities for all athletes/participants to improve skills and reach their goals through shared training opportunities and information;

       2. Increased support to develop programming for centers without competitive programs in place.

       3. Increased opportunities and support to develop programming for athletes/participants with goals to make the transition from non-competitive to competitive status

    Club Development

       1. Increased support and programming opportunities for centers where synchronized swimming is currently absent from aquatic programming;

       2. Increased support to develop recreational and competitive clubs;

       3. Increased opportunities and support for centers to develop summer programming.

    Communication

    Facilitate better-shared communication among the clubs, athletes/participants, coaches, instructors and Synchro Sask committees
