Athletes with a Disability (AWAD)

For several years the Saskatoon Orca Club has offered Synchro for Special Olympic Athletes of all ages.  The name has changed to Athletes with a Disability (AWAD) and the program evolved, and the benefits and opportunities this program presents are better than ever! It includes flexibility, fitness, figures, routine skills, goal setting, Synchro Canada Stars and Pre-Star Levels.  Synchro Saskatchewan has developed a modified Technical Package for Special Olympic Coaches to follow for recreational and competitive Special Olympic Athletes. Beginner athletes start by taking the Pre-Star Levels which have been developed by Synchro Sask.

The Pre-Stars include entries, breath control, floating and surface support, weight transfer, movement through water, routine element and routine skills/transitions.  The more advanced athletes continue through the Synchro Canada Star Program. Please contact Synchro Saskatchewan for more details on how to start an AWAD Program.
