Jessica and the 13-15 National Team at ASUA

This summer Jessica Guenther attended the First Annual ASUA Meet in Oaxtepec Mexico. Jessica earned the chance to attend this meet with the 13-15 National Team when she placed fourth in figures making her the only Western Canada swimmer to crack the 10- member team. Synchro Saskatchewan is really proud of Jessica and all of her accomplishments. She shows what determination, hard work and passion can amount to- all whole lot of success!!!

Here is what Jessica had to say about her success and about Mexico:

"As most of you know, I went ot Mexico City this summer to represent Canada at the 1st Age Group Pan American Synchronized Swimming Championships. And, for two years I have been a member of the 13-15 National Team. What many of you don't know is that I haven't always been successful when it comes to synchronized swimming. In fact, my first year I came last at every single competition except one, where I came 5th. What really changed my results was a decision I made. After getting last place for a whole year I decided that I was sick of it and that I wanted to win. I made a decision that I would work my hardest all year. I signed up for private lessons, started choreographing a solo, did my flexibility training every day at home and even went to a synchro camp in Montreal. I slowly immproved over the year and climbed my way to first place. When I first won I was so excited!! I had reached my goal! It was one of the happiest feelings I had ever had. From there, I just got hooked on the feeling of reaching my goals and the excitement that came with it. I decided that I wanted to go somewhere with synchronized swimming and here I am now! I think it is really important for our young Saskatchewan synchronized swimmers to realize that we can do it in Saskatchewan and to take the initiative to set and reach their goals."

Jessica Guenther.
