Coaches

Synchro Saskatchewan coaching awards are presented at the Annual Recognition Awards Banquet held in conjunction with the Marnie Eistetter Figure Meet.

 

All names submitted are checked for eligibility to other categories and awards such as SaskSport and Synchro Canada.  The recipients of the Coach Recognition Awards are decided by the Recognition Awards Selection Committee.

Sadie Caulder Knight National Stream Coach of the Year

Sadie Caulder Knight was a pioneer of synchronized swimming in Saskatchewan. Upon Sadie’s death in 1970, a group of her former swimmers established a trust fund in her name.  Synchro Saskatchewan now administers the fund and annually presents a “Coach of the Year” award and bursary in her memory.

 

A perpetual trophy, as well as a retainer plaque, will be awarded at the Synchro Saskatchewan Annual Awards Banquet.  The bursary is $200 and must be used for the coach’s development.

 

The coach must:

     

    • Have actively coached athletes in the High Performance Program during the past competitive year.
    • Have NCCP Level 2 certification, at the minimum and be working towards NCCP Level 3.
    • Competition results through the year must show evidence of swimmer improvement.
    • Demonstrate strong coaching and leadership skills.
    • Demonstrate traits of a good role model for athletes.

Weiner Sisters Provincial Stream Coach Recognition Award

This recognition award is made possible by the Weiner sisters: Liz, Ruth, and Margot.  All three have coached at the Recreational and Age Class levels and total more than 28 years of coaching experience. This award focuses on coaching excellence at the Provincial Stream level and recognizes coaches who have developed and encouraged young athletes.

 

The award is donated and presented annually by Liz (Weiner) Yaskowich, Ruth Weiner and Margot Weiner.

 

The coach must:

     

    • Have primary coaching responsibility at the Provincial Stream Competitive Level.
    • Have actively coached athletes in the Provincial Stream during the past competitive year.
    • Have NCCP Level 1 certification, at the minimum.
    • Competition results through the year must show evidence of swimmer improvement.
    • Demonstrate strong commitment to the athletes through technical upgrading, attendance at competitions and a positive coaching attitude. 

Recreational Coach Recognition Award

The Recreational Coach Recognition Award was been established to recognize the coaching excellence of the Recreational Coaches in both the Winter and Summer Clubs/Programs.

 

The coach must:

     

    • Have successfully completed the “synchro Instructor” or the Synchro Saskatchewan “Intro to Coaching” course. NCCP Level 1 certification, at the minimum.
    • The coaching ability of the candidate will be reflected in the improvement of swimmers based on the Star Program exams. 
    • Desired leadership characteristics include technical knowledge and continue of coaching upgrading plus actively contributing to synchronized swimming in Saskatchewan.

Jami Eistetter Coaching Excellence Award

This award recognizes the coaching excellence for those who coach at the Provincial Stream and/or National Stream levels. 

 

This award, donated by Marnie Eistetter, is in recognition of her daughter Jami’s contribution to coaching in Saskatchewan, at both Swimmer Development and the High Performance levels, and then becoming Provincial Coach for Synchro Saskatchewan.

 

The coach must:

     

    • Have primary coaching responsibility at the Provincial Stream Competitive Level
    • Have be fully certified, at a minimum to NCCP Level 1.
    • Must be currently coaching with an Affiliated Competitive Club.
    • Must have coached at the National Stream and/or Provincial Stream during the past season.
    • Competition results through the year must show evidence of swimmer improvement.
    • Desired leadership characteristics include technical knowledge and upgrading, actively contributing to synchronized swimming in Saskatchewan plus be a good role model for the athletes.
