High Performance Program

In 2012-2013, Synchro Saskatchewan took part in the High Performance Planning Initiative offered by Sask Sport to enhance the level of High Performance planning and HP outcomes for Saskatchewan Sport.

The process of examining of our strengths/weaknesses, benchmarks, and completing a gap analysis helped our organization develop a more effective High Performance plan and produce the High Performance Goals and Programs. The overarching goal of the program is to create a structure to qualify athletes for the 13-15 and Junior National Team programs.

There are two streams in the High Performance Program – Excellence and Development. To qualify to participate in either HP Program, the athlete must achieve a set standard in Excellence Skill Testing. Testing involves figure, routine, fitness and flexibility components.

Testing for the 2016-2017 season was completed in June 2016.  In total, 29 athletes qualified for participation in the High Performance Program.

Ten athletes were named to the Saskatchewan Provincial Team based on a series of trials events held over the season. The Provincial Team attended a week long training camp in Canmore. Athletes were also invited to attend one of two two-day summer camps.

The swimmers will participate in two training camps – October 29th - 30th in Regina and January 14th - 15th in Saskatoon. The camps consist of training technical skills (figures and routines), creative development, flexibility, fitness conditioning, strength training, mental training and self-esteem development, and nutrition. Guest Clinician for the October camp was Elise Marcotte, Synchro Canada Olympian.

High Performance trials for the 2016-2017 season are tentatively scheduled for June 10.
